It has been 9 months since we last updated our terms and privacy policy, and as we continue to build out CM and the services we provide it’s time for another round of updates. As we don’t collect email addresses for our users, we can’t do the usual ‘spam the update to everyone’ that most companies do, so this blog post will serve that purpose. So let’s get this started.
OUR TERMS HAVE CHANGED EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY FOR USERS WHO USE THIS SITE (AND OUR SERVICES AND PRODUCTS) ON OR AFTER THE DATE ABOVE AND ON JULY 4th , 2014, FOR PREVIOUS USERS OF THIS SITE AND OUR SERVICES AND PRODUCTS).
As our users, these updates are important for you to understand, so we’ll take a brief look at what they mean.
Privacy Policy - We’ve updated our Privacy Policy to provide additional information regarding what personal information we collect and how we use it. This covers the anonymous statistics collection seen in CM as well as additional information you provide through services such as CM Account or a larger scale Cyanogen Store.
Third Parties - As Cyanogen Inc. continues to expand, they enter agreements with the likes of Google and other parties for services seen on retail hardware. Language has been added to reflect both the Terms and Privacy Policy as it relates to third parties.
User Generated Content - Most relevant for forums, communities and other areas where you may provide content to share, we want to make sure this content is not offensive to other users. The terms now carries a section to reflect this content and our use of it.
Arbitration – We’ve added an arbitration clause to our Terms. While we don’t anticipate legal action, this provides a quicker and more efficient way to resolve any potential legal disputes, and skips the long process of courts.
