Week Ending: October 19, 2013

“This Week in CyanogenMod” is an ongoing feature that aims to serve as a one-stop shop for weekly updates. Topics discussed are culled from our social media accounts, gerrit, status updates and general thoughts

“I’m late! I’m late!…No time to say ‘hello’, goodbye!” These past few weeks, I appear to be channeling my inner White Rabbit. Let’s recap last week’s activities shall we?

Saying goodbye to some old friends

With all the excitement surrounding the BBQ, one crucial piece of information got lost in the shuffle. Michael Scott (aka Hashcode) has succumb to the pressures of life and been forced to withdraw from supporting a handful of his Motorola OMAP devices, namely the Droid 3, Droid Bionic, Droid RAZR and Droid 4. He will continue to support the other devices he has, but given the time crunch he is feeling, it only makes sense that he focus on the devices that are more recent and (somewhat) easier to keep up to date. Hit the link to read his write-up.

DroidCon 2013 London!

Shane Francis (BumbleBee) and myself will be in attendance and giving the Keynote at DroidCon this week! If you are in the area grab a ticket and come out and say hi!

Nexus 7 2013 LTE

The latest Nexus 7 and its maintainer romracer made their way onto the CM scene this week. If you have one of these models, check for ‘deb’ on your favorite CM downloads page!

Note 3

We’ve also begun the task of bringup on the Galaxy Note 3 – this device is not close to nightly status yet, but we thought some of you may appreciate knowing CM for the device (GSM and CDMA variants) is in process. Please respect the work of the maintainers and not ask for an estimate of availability, it’ll be ready when its ready.

Koush’s remote display framework in action

You may have seen Koush demonstrating Airplay support, and other ‘second screen’ functionality. But that same framework  also allows for built in screen-recording functionality right inside of CM – no root or external app required. AndroidPolice did a quick write-up, check it out!  The patch is still in review (see framework link) so don’t get caught asking where it is in the OS, its not there yet ;) .

Got a suggestion for a topic you’d like to see in the next round-up? Let us know in the comments below. All device/port requests will be ignored.
